I mean, I know why I’m named Chloe. My parents named me after a character in 102 Dalmatians. They went to the theatre and saw it and they were like “That is a perfect name for our baby girl!” And, no, I wasn’t born yet. They kind of knew I was going to be a girl. I wonder what my name would have been if I was a boy… Maybe Oliver. That’s what they named my younger brother. But what would Olly be named? Hm. I must ponder this matter further.
Anyways, do you guys think I seem like a Chloe? I mean, I like the name Chloe, in fact, I love it! It just doesn’t feel like ME. When I think of a Chloe, I think of a polite French girl who wears fashionable clothes and has black hair and a cute pet poodle and has tea parties with her china dolls for fun. Not an obnoxious brunette with magenta glasses who writes and sings and rambles about how companies like Lays put milk in chips (EW!) with her pack of friends, like myself.
I brought this up on NaNoWriMo, and somebody asked me “Well, what would you want to be named?” I answered this without thinking. “Lola Sky.” Lola Sky has always seemed like a name that suits me. Lola seems like a playful name, one for an independent, brave, feisty girl. Sky is a little more dreamy, creative, and intelligent. Both names form together to make a name that suits me to a tee-at least in my opinion. I do prefer the way my name sounds, though. I’m not changing my name anytime soon.
By the way, kiwiyoungwriter from NaNo told me about this thing where you post on your every day in 2013. It’s a late start, but I’ll give it a whirl! I’m also going to be adding questions FOR YOU at the end of each post. For blog inspiration, for writing prompts, and for comment ideas. I do love getting comments!
If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?
Do you think your name suits you? Why or why not? What names do suit your personality?
What names suit MY personality (as in, the girl who writes this blog) and why?
What would your parents have named you if you were the opposite gender you are now? What about your siblings?
Thanks for reading! Remember to let your inner rainbow shine through.
